What to Prepare
Evaluate your information security background against published criteria and defensive lab focus areas.
B.E / B.Tech / MCA / B.Sc
Hiring evaluations prioritize demonstrable problem-solving, domain competence, and practical project evidence over specific degree pedigree.
Information security principles, threat assessment, and vulnerability management.
Revise CIA triad, OWASP Top 10 vulnerabilities, network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, TLS/SSL), firewall concepts, and common attack vectors with remediation strategies.
Security logs, SIEM tools, alert triage, and incident response.
Be prepared to explain log analysis, correlating alerts to detect anomalies, evidence preservation, and structured incident escalation steps.
Basic understanding of data storage, serialization, and persistence.
Be prepared to explain relational normalization (1NF-3NF), indexing trade-offs, foreign key constraints, and transactional consistency.
Familiarity with Git branching, pull requests, and collaborative repository management.
Review Git branch workflows, pull request code reviews, and maintain clean commit history with descriptive messages.
Remote (Work From Home) operational structure.
Highlight proactive written communication, technical documentation discipline, and the ability to troubleshoot errors systematically before escalating.
Technical Topics
Depending on the hiring team’s evaluation style, technical assessments for this role typically cover these core areas:
Topic 1: Information Security Architecture & Defensive Principles
- CIA Triad (Confidentiality, Integrity, Availability) and defense-in-depth
- Network security protocols (TLS/SSL, SSH, DNSSEC, VPNs)
- Authentication frameworks (OAuth 2.0, SAML, Multi-Factor Authentication)
Topic 2: Vulnerability Assessment, OWASP Top 10 & Remediation
- Web application security risks (SQLi, XSS, CSRF, SSRF, Broken Access Control)
- Vulnerability scanning tools and CVE severity scoring (CVSS v3)
- Collaborative patch management and mitigation workflows with engineering
Topic 3: SIEM, Security Monitoring & Incident Triage
- Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) log correlation
- Triage of IDS/IPS alerts and distinguishing false positives from true attacks
- Attack lifecycle frameworks (MITRE ATT&CK, Cyber Kill Chain)
Topic 4: Incident Response & Digital Forensics Basics
- Incident response phases: Preparation, Identification, Containment, Eradication, Recovery
- Evidence preservation, chain of custody, and forensic timeline reconstruction
- Host isolation and credential revocation procedures
Topic 5: Security Awareness, Compliance & Risk Communication
- Enterprise security compliance frameworks (SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR)
